Olio Loretta Bertei

Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Olio Loretta BERTEI is produced by a family-run farm established in the early 19th century in the village of San Lorenzo, Suvereto.
Family half of French origin. Olive groves planted by Amedeo Bertei (1880-1971) and his father in the early 1900s replaced all the vines destroyed by phylloxera at the end of the 19th century. Hundreds of olive trees were planted on the hills and plains. The land bordered on the famous castle and summer residence of Elisa Bonaparte, princess of Lucca and Piombino married to the noble Baciocchi of Lucca. This is why it was renamed the Castello della Baciocca . From then until now, the Bertei family has always produced extra virgin olive oil. The company is now managed by Raffaele TRASSINELLI, son of Loretta Bertei and great grandson of Amedeo.
The varieties present in the family’s olive groves are the four typical Tuscan varieties: Moraiolo, Frantoio, Pendolino and Leccino.
The hand-picked olives are taken daily to the oil mill, guaranteeing a product with a high content of vitamins and anti-oxidant substances.
The oil obtained is recognisable by its good fruitiness, the aroma of artichoke, fresh grass, almonds and the pleasant, slightly spicy bitterness typical of Tuscan oil.
